The Flash Season 3 Themes Will Include What It Means To Have Power

During Entertainment Weekly's spoiler column this week, The Flash executive producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed that the show's forthcoming third season will be an examination of the very nature of power.
Asked by a reader whether Barry Allen will retain his powers even in the Flashpoint universe, Kreisberg said that he would, adding, “One of the themes is what does it mean to have power, what you do with that power, and is power ultimately corrupting?”
That's a question Barry should probably be asking himself after altering the timeline to suit his personal desires at the end of Season Two, but it's more likely Kreisberg is talking about Savitar, who in the comics got more dangerous and twisted as he became more and more obsessed with the study of speed and velocity -- and thus more powerful.
Of course, the original question posed is something we already knew about. At Comic Con International: San Diego, The Flash star Grant Gustin told me that Barry still had his powers, but didn't actually have to use them, since Wally West was doing the job of watching over the city.
he later went on to say that Barry would be "forgetting" his powers as he forgot the rest of his memories when the timelines started to blur.
"Savitar is more of a psychological villain in a weird way," executive producer Aaron Helbing said previously. "I think the Hindu word for Savitar means God of Speed; he's all about speed. Everything about this guy is different. I can't go into super detail, but he's not like Zoom or Reverse Flash."
The Flash Season 3 premieres Tuesday, October 4 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
